Meet Gabriel

Philippines

Minglanilla

I came from a poor family. My parents separated when I was still young. We had a stepfather but my mother broke up with him because of his bad attitude. As of the moment, we have a second step-father and we are blessed because he is a good man. I have seven (7) siblings. My two (2) elder sisters are working and stays in Manila while my four (4) younger siblings are studying. One of my siblings died due to a car accident. My life in our place was difficult because I had to take the responsibility of taking care of my younger siblings since my elder sisters were not with us. I am the one who cooked our food since my parents were out for work. There were times we ate late because we didn’t have food to cook and would just wait for our step-father to arrive from vending.

I am looking forward to the high-quality education that the school offers which will surely be an instrument for me to finish my studies. My life here will be different in a way that I become more skillful, more knowledgeable and more competent. I decided to come to the Sisters of Mary because I know that I can focus on studies. This is also my way of helping them lessen their expenses.

My dream is to become a Civil Engineer and to help my family someday by lifting them from poverty. After I graduate, I want to continue my studies and find a good and suitable job. I also plan to take an exam in the Air Force. I can help my family by sharing my knowledge and also help them financially if I already have a job. I can also help in the community by doing my best to continue living the values I learned from the school.
