The Sisters have been operating charitable programs for more than fifty years serving children with the greatest need who have the greatest potential. Meet Erika

Honduras

Tegucigalpa

My name is Erika and I´m 14 years old. I come from a poor and catholic family. My parents worked very hard to sustain the family´s needs.  I had a very hard life since young. I could not have the things that my companions at school had like good notebooks, beautiful schoolbag and color pens. I had an older sister who worked very hard to meet both ends because at that time, my father met and accident and could not work for us.

One day, there was an announcement about those who wanted to take the entrance examination for The Sisters of Mary Girlstown and Boystown. I took it and was able to pass this examination. I was so glad to be here learning academically and spiritually. When I arrived on my first day here, I was surprised with the big buildings and the gardens were so cleaned. I could not imagine that I have to live with girls who belong to the different places of Honduras. What I really liked the most here is on how the sisters care for us. They had a great love for us, treat us in a well-educated way and correct us when we do wrong. I am motivated to do the same, to help others in need. I am so happy living here in the Girlstown because I am learning a lot of good things.

My dream in life is to be in the field of Engineering or Flight Attendant Course. After studying here, I will study in the university to finish my study and later on, if God wants, I will have a good family of my own.

I am very grateful to our benefactors for helping us in order to continue in our studies and be able to reach our goals. Here, in the school, we learn good values and good education that the other school don’t have. May God bless you.
