Honduras

Honduras is one of the poorest countries in Latin America and has one of the world’s highest murder rates. More than half of the population lives in poverty and per capita income is one of the lowest in this area. Poverty rates are higher amongst rural and indigenous people and are dependent on educational development, but educational quality and access is currently at a very low level.

With the funds from our gracious donors, the Sisters of Mary are able to operate two schools in Honduras; Tegucigalpa Girlstown and Amarateca Boystown. The over 1,500 children at the schools in Honduras come from the most remote and impoverished regions in the country.
