The Sisters of Mary opened up their Chalco Girlstown program in 1991 and now the Sisters have the capacity to care for 3,500 young girls to give them a promising future and to break the cycle of poverty.

The girls are provided with everything they need to enjoy a proper childhood and learn the skills that will help them get future employment as well as improve their mental wellbeing and build their confidence. At school, they have access to a variety of facilities for sports and the opportunity to play, including a swimming pool, basketball and football courts.

Their school program covers the full range of academic studies and vocational training in subjects such as accounting, dress-making, and jewelry making. Our girls gain the skills needed by local employers so they’re work-ready once they leave and can build lasting careers to support themselves and their families.

The daycare center in Mexico is near the school in Chalco and its purpose is to care for young children from the nearby communities up to age five to allow their mothers to work. The children attend for a full day and receive three nutritious meals, supervised play and early learning opportunities.

All of this is only possible through the generosity of people like you. Every child deserves a good start in life and with your help we can continue to make this a reality.
