Tune in to EWTN's show Bookmark on Sunday, June 23 (complete airing schedule below) which will highlight two of Venerable Fr. Aloysius Schwartz's written works. Tom and Glory Sullivan, longtime friends of Fr. Al, will discuss The Starved and the Silent and Killing Me Softly with host Doug Keck, as well as what was happening in Fr. Al's life when he wrote each of these and their enduring relevance for readers. The first book follows Fr. Al as a young priest in South Korea caring for the poor and sick in the aftermath of the Korean War in which he recounts the experiences which led to his founding of the first Villages for Children. The second, recorded by Fr. Al months before his death, tells of his ongoing battle with ALS while trying to maintain and staff his growing number of schools for children living in poverty and medical clinics serving poor communities.
