During his lifetime, Fr. Al founded Villages for Children in South Korea, the Philippines, and Mexico where, with the help of the Sisters of Mary, he cared for and educated children from impoverished families. Following his death in 1992, the sisters continued Fr. Al's mission, expanding to Guatemla, Brazil, Honduras, and most recently, Tanzania. Since the first school was founded in 1964, the Sisters of Mary have fed, sheltered, and educated more than 150,000 children, enabling them to continue on to college or to obtain gainful employment and work to better the lives of their families and communities.
