SPONSOR SR. FAUSTINA

Boystown, Guadalajara, Mexico

I live in Boystown, La Villa de Los Niños in Guadalara, Mexico where I am the “Sister Mother” for 7th grade boys. I’m originally from a little country village called Aquilpa in the state of Guerrero in Mexico. When I was young it was safe there, unfortunately it is no longer. I come from a large family of nine siblings and my parents were farmers. The economic situation for my parents was never easy; therefore, we learned that hard work was the only way to get ahead.

I begin my mornings with prayer and eat breakfast with the children. Afterwards I accompany the children to their classrooms. At noon, I go to the kitchen to pick up lunch for my boys, and I distribute lunch among the families of children and serve them, like a mother. When the boys get out of class, they run, play, and most of the time I go outside and play with them too, it is something I enjoy doing. In the evening, we pray the Holy Rosary with the boys and afterwards I supervise study time with them. During that time, I also listen to the boys who want to talk to me and hear their struggles. My day ends at 10:00 PM when all the boys are sleeping.

World Villages for Children is really an act of God, as there are so many children who need help. So many children have received help and are incredibly grateful for being able to change the direction of their life, reaching goals that otherwise would have never been possible, and reaching their dreams. I recall the words Jesus spoke: “What you do for the least of these of my brothers, you do to me, and nothing goes without recompense.”

THE SISTERS OF MARY

The Sisters of Mary are devoted to helping the poorest of the poor in Asia, Latin America and Africa. The religious order was founded by Aloysius Schwartz, the priest of the poor. The Sisters have been operating charitable programs for more than fifty years serving children with the greatest need who have the greatest potential.

It is not enough to give the poor food and clothing. They need education that gives them the skills to build a dignified existence for themselves.”
